Edith and Mark Sutterlin - Personal Website
Mark now works in computer software development for Ringleader Digital. After commuting for a little over a year to Mellon Analytical Solutions in Pittsburgh and enjoying the people he got to know there, he now enjoys working out of our home in Wexford, PA. We built here in 2001, in the beautiful North Hills of Pittsburgh.
Edith works at Northland Public Library, as the Technical Services Dept. Manager. She does cataloging, planning, and lots of miscellaneous. She loves the variety of problem solving and projects and her coworkers.
Edith writes, " I am grateful to be loved by a God who lives everywhere. God surrounds us, is with us and loves us. I believe that PEACE and HARMONY are God's intention for our personal, family, community, and international relations."
We are both Obama supporters. We have been disappointed recently in recent administrations' militaristic arrogance and lack of genuine, long-term, peace-making. We are hopeful that our next President will invest in education and international cooperation for our future.
Mark and Edith have been dismayed by our American Baptist Churches' local Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania regions' wanting to eliminate any churches who take a welcoming and affirming position on issues involving human sexuality. We have joined the Community of Reconciliation, Pittsburgh, PA, an intentionally interrracial, ecumenical, and openly welcoming congregation. "COR" is not only American Baptist and a member of the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists, but also belongs to the Disciples of Christ, United Church of Christ, United Methodist, and Presbyterian -- so everyone in our church becomes a member of five different Protestant denominations when they join. Mark and Edith also are still contributing members of Ravensworth Baptist Church,Annandale, VA, although with job and home location changes, we now only get back there once or twice a year most years. We shared in the historic New Baptist Covenant gathering convened by Jimmy Carter and others in Atlanta, GA, in Jan. 2008. Our reaction is Very enthusiastic! We hope to be able to continue discussions with local Baptists' our understanding(s) of religious liberty and congregational autonomy as genuine Baptist principles. By reaffirming that, perhaps we can reconcile them to our church's necessity of following our call to be "radically inclusive ministers in action."
Mark and Edith have two daughters, both married.
Rebecca and Brian Mosqueda live in Chandler, AZ, where she is a music therapist and he is a history, English, and Social Studies teacher, while completing a degree in School MEDIA ! (Yeah-- another Librarian in the family!)
Emilie and Michael Muelly are both in the Penn State MD/PhD programs, so live either in State College and Hershey, PA, depending on the day of the week :-)
We also have a standard poodle, Joey, adopted July 2006, about 3 yrs. old at the time.
For those of you who remember our previous dog, Clair, she died at the age of 12 in May 2006.
